David Farren

David Farren is a painter of street scenes and landscapes living in France.
I was born in 1972 in Wiltshire and moved to the Perigord region of south west France with my family in 2014.

I have worked as a professional artist since 2000 and in that time have exhibited my paintings in leading galleries across the UK including solo shows in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.

I am fascinated by the changing light within a scene and how it determines the mood of a place at a particular time - be it a busy London street or a quiet corner of France.

The painting process often begins with taking a walk and using my sketchbook to record ideas. I enjoy painting en plein air -mostly small studies that I can complete in one session -these then inform the larger studio works.

My paintings are held in private collections in Britain, France, USA and Ireland. My work has featured in Paint and Draw magazine ,The Artist magazine, Be Artist magazine, The One Show and France 3 Perigord.
